Meet: The corner of Coleridge Passage and Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham B4 6NH

Birmingham is not the first city you'd connect with uber-detective Sherlock Holmes but the evidence is all there to be discovered. Creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle lived here while writing his first mystery stories, while his later Sherlock adventures borrow names from several Birmingham figures and locations. Tantalisingly, the literary landscape of Doyle’s stories owes much to his formative experiences of Birmingham and Aston. On this approximately 100-minute walk through the city centre, we search for the clues that reveal Holmes’ presence. At once an affectionate tribute to the world’s most famous detective and a reflection on the nature of evidence, beliefs and critical thinking.

Concession prices are for ages 60+ or under 16, students, those with a disability or anyone experiencing hardship (no proof of this will be requested)
