GUIDED WALK

£8 / Limited FREE

Meet: Holland Road West / Aston Road North junction, Birmingham B6 4DW

This is an extended version of The Game Is Afoot, beginning in Aston Cross (once home to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) and surveying the few remaining Victorian buildings and artifacts in search of survivors from Doyle's day. A canal-side walk of one mile then takes us to Goster Green, with rest and refreshments at the Sacks of Potatoes. The second half of the walk focuses on the city centre in search of the further clues that reveal Sherlock Holmes’ city presence as it appears in names, places, art, literature and history. The event is at once a thoughtful tribute to the world’s most famous detective and a meditation on creative and critical thinking, and the nature of evidence in all walks of life.

Join Ben after the walk for a second round of refreshments at The Shakespeare Inn, 31 Summer Row B3 1JJ

Footwear suitable for urban walking and weather-appropriate clothing is essential. Please bring water for this longer walk.
