Meet: The Exchange, 3 Centenary Square, Birmingham B1 2DR
Civic Gospel was a Victorian municipal ideology that provided citizens with quality architecture, thoughtful urban design and improved utilities. In 2024, it is difficult to think of any city running without grand civic buildings, public parks, libraries, clean water, free education, police and reliable Wi-Fi. This 90-minute walk around the block at The Exchange, Centenary Square, explores the civic expectations, demands and conflicts of today, from public spaces and parks to security and Wi-Fi.
This event runs in association with The Exchange, University of Birmingham; please see their regular events programme.
Footwear suitable for urban walking and weather-appropriate clothing is essential.
